Why customers choose NorthTrail Auto

LZSTEC's 21ft NACS extension cable is a weatherproof 50A/12kW charging extension built to extend Tesla and NACS Level 1 & Level 2 mobile and wall chargers safely and reliably.

Need more reach between your charger and vehicle? This LZSTEC extension cord increases usable reach by 21 feet while maintaining high-capacity charging up to 50 amps (12 kW). Designed specifically for Tesla/NACS connectors and compatible with Tesla Mobile Chargers, Wall Connectors, and Destination Chargers, it’s intended to solve placement limitations without changing your charging hardware. It is not for use at Supercharger stations and does not carry the vehicle’s charge-port door signal.

How do I connect the extension so charging works every time?

Follow the correct connection order: always plug the extension into your charger first, wait a second or two for the electronics to initialize, then plug the cable into the vehicle. Connecting to the car first can interrupt the charger-to-vehicle communication and prevent charging.

  • Plug extension into charger, wait 1–3 seconds for initialization.
  • Then plug the other end into the vehicle’s NACS/Tesla inlet.
  • Avoid plugging into the car first—this can break the handshake and stop charging.

Will the extension open my Tesla’s charge port button automatically?

No. This extension is a passive power cable and does not contain the signal transmitter that triggers the Tesla charge-port button. You’ll need to open the charge door via the Tesla app, interior touchscreen, or by pressing the door manually when the vehicle is unlocked.

  • Use Tesla app, in-car controls, or manual press to open the port.
  • Ensure the vehicle is unlocked before attempting manual press.
  • After port is open, insert the NACS connector and start charging.

Is the cable safe for outdoor and heavy-use conditions?

The cable is engineered for outdoor durability with high-dust and water resistance and a wide operating temperature range. Constructed from high-strength TPE jacketed cable and 5-micron silver-plated copper conductors, it’s tested for longevity including many unplug/plug cycles to stand up to repeated use.

  • Rated for use from -10°F to 221°F for varied climates.
  • TPE jacket and silver-plated copper for thermal and electrical reliability.
  • Tested for 10,000 no-load unplug cycles to ensure durability.

Which chargers and Tesla models are compatible with this extension?

The LZSTEC extension is compatible with Tesla Level 1 and Level 2 mobile chargers, Wall Connectors, and Destination Chargers that use the NACS standard. It supports Model 3, Y, S, X, and Cybertruck as well as other NACS-equipped EVs, but it is not approved for Tesla Supercharger stalls.

  • Works with Tesla Mobile Charger, Wall Connector, and Destination Charger (Level 1 & 2).
  • Compatible with Tesla Model 3, Y, S, X, Cybertruck and other NACS EVs.
  • Not compatible with Tesla Supercharger units.

Who this is for: Drivers who need extra reach from their existing Tesla or NACS Level 1/2 charging setup — especially homeowners with distant garage outlets, renters using shared parking, or business owners placing charging gear away from fixed plugs. If you require a durable outdoor-rated extension to deliver up to 50A safely and keep your charging workflow simple, this LZSTEC 21ft NACS extension cord is built to fit that need. Remember it does not replace charger electronics or enable Supercharger access.

FAQ

Q: Can I use this extension at a Tesla Supercharger?

A: No. The LZSTEC extension is for Level 1 and Level 2 Tesla/NACS chargers only and is not compatible with Supercharger stalls.

Q: Do I need to open the car’s charge port before connecting?

A: Yes. Open the charge port via the Tesla app, car touchscreen, or manually before plugging in—the extension won’t trigger the port button.
